Practicums

You can’t learn ministry just by reading about it. Our practicum program is designed to get you in the room where ministry happens. Guided by pastors and ministry directors who are actively doing the work, you will take what you learn during the week and apply it immediately to our Sunday environments and weekday ministries. You’ll face real challenges, celebrate real wins, and build the practical, hands-on experience that a textbook simply cannot teach.

Worship Practicum

Worship Passionately, Lead with Excellence

Students in the Worship Practicum grow both spiritually and musically as they dive deep into the heart of presence-driven ministry. With hands-on opportunities to lead across our Chapelhill locations, you will learn what it takes to pastor a team on and off the stage, design seamless services, and sharpen your musical craft. Step behind the microphone, into the production booth, and onto the platform to develop into a confident, Spirit-led leader who carries the presence of God with excellence and humility.

Key Focus Areas: Vocal & instrumental development, service programming, and leading within a passionate worship culture.

Next Steps Practicum

Lead People Into a Growing Relationship with Jesus

The Next Steps Practicum focuses on the heart of discipleship, visitor assimilation, and pastoral care. Working alongside our administrative and pastoral leadership, you will learn how to create an excellent, welcoming environment from the parking lot to the lobby. Gain essential, behind-the-scenes insights into church operations as you shepherd people through Growth Track, into Small Groups, and onto our incredible Dream Team.

Key Focus Areas: Guest services, volunteer onboarding, assimilation systems, and serving at the highest possible level.

Kids Practicum

Invest in the Next Generation & Have Fun

The Kids Ministry Practicum prepares you to lead with joy, creativity, and purpose as you serve children from infancy through 5th grade. True to our Chapelhill values, you will learn how to create safe, high-energy, and engaging environments where kids can encounter Jesus and build a strong biblical foundation. Gain hands-on experience leading large-group services, discipling kids in small groups, and building a thriving volunteer culture.

Key Focus Areas: Creative teaching, volunteer team-building, parental partnerships, and large-scale events (like VBS and Kids Camp).

Youth Practicum

Champion Teenagers & Build Culture

The Youth Ministry Practicum equips you to lead and disciple the next generation through hands-on ministry with 6th–12th graders. You will learn how to build a vibrant, fun youth culture that grounds teenagers in their faith amidst a loud world. From running weekly youth nights and mentoring students in small groups to planning high-impact Rally Nights and annual events, you will experience what it truly means to lead and thrive within a growing youth ministry.

Key Focus Areas: Student discipleship, communication, service planning, and large-scale event execution.

Chapelhill Church

Chapelhill Church is a family of churches that has spent more than 25 years leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. By training at one of the largest Assemblies of God churches in Georgia, SEU Chapelhill students gain exposure to diverse ministries and large-scale events across our church locations in the greater Atlanta area. Our pastors and ministry directors are deeply committed to pouring into the next generation. Through intentional mentorship and hands-on responsibility, we help shape our interns into Spirit-empowered leaders equipped with both the excellence and the passion needed to make a lasting impact.
